Here's some pics/vids of our hurricane/tropical storm experience. our own trees and property was essentially unaffected, full power and water and phone service (so far). these pics are mostly within 1/2 a mile of our home, and at most 1 mile away down adjacent roads from our house. We were very shocked to have not had any issues. We have the better portion of a year's supply of food, tons of water, 72 hour kits, etc., so we were as prepaired as we could have been. We said our prayers all this week and last night and didn't have any issues. Kevin and Michelle both slept very poorly, adrenaline rushing at every gust of wind, waiting for the big boom from a tree or large branch landing on the house or breaking a window. We had our 72 hour kits and camper stove and shoes and clothes all layed out by the door last night too, in case we had to grab and go. Today has been all toys, legos, movies, nachos and naps though, with the occasional venturing out to see the scene.

Memorial Day Thomas Road Trip

Sooooooo

all that inbetween stuff, its either not happening, or we'll get around to posting it sometime later.

for now, here's some pics and videos of our recent trip up to Lake George and North Creek NY.

We stayed in a $50 motel (2 double beds and a fridge, not bad.

The road trip was suprizingly really great (kids slept and played and were very content for 90% of it, unheard of around here) thanks to lots of treats, ipod video movies and well timed naps.

Anyway, you'll get the idea

drive up to motel (through contsruction) 6 hours
sleep in motel (grace decided her naps in the car were better than some crummy old porticrib (see pic below)

Grace makes this face alot.  Its her play, think, go, communicate, express face I guess).

next morning drive 20 minutes north to thomas fair

drive back to motel, play on playground, get in pool, goof around.
every night we were here, grace would (eventually) fall asleep in her porticrib (which we had to put in the bathroom because it was to bright and noisy in the main room).  Then Kendall, Michelle & Kevin would snuggle in one of the beds and watch Wall-E on our laptop and with 1 spoon eat A&W rootbeer/vanilla swirl Ice Cream out of the carton.

On sunday we went to church, relaxed, and hung out by lake george (http://www.visitlakegeorge.com/) before having a home cooked barbecue dinner
the picture of kendall is right after he face planted off the slide into the playground dirt.

next day we woke up late, played around, packed up, strolled through the main street of the town and then went to local kids amusement park called "the magic forest" (note you have to say "the magic forest" like homer simpson would say it.)
it was pretty ghett-I MEAN fun actually.  It did reminded Michelle & I of all those 80's horror films with the amusement park figurines the come to life and hack everyone to death (see movie below)

(yea, it was JUNE when we were there.  Festive 12 months out of the year)

Then...we came upon something that was REALLY COOL!
We played on this slide for 45 minutes plus.  It was 3 stories of serious fun.

Then we drove home (only 4 hours driving as everyone apparently drove home early in the day, so our 8:00 arrival time through the manhattan area was wide open roads)
And it was back to school and work on Tuesday. (cute movie of grace the next day)

The Young One

And so life went on. Over the next year Michelle finished up most of her dental hygiene program and Kevin continued his undergrad schooling degree and applied to dental school...you'll notice there are no pictures of us at school or in class or studying or anything like that. That's because although during this year we were engaged in these pursuits, we were really just watching our little boy Kendall George Croft grow. We took naps, we played with toys, we had food fights, we vacationed when we could and did all we could to be a happy, growing family.

With a little girl on the way (due in May) we figured it was time to start a blog. We'll do a really brief backtrack to "the beginning" for now and hopefully catch up to the present sometime in the next decade.

First comes love

Then comes marriage

Then the couple buys a place, has some fun, goes to school and hangs out for a while.

Then comes the (first) baby in the baby carriage.
